Japanese deco rolled cake

I love this recipe so much. It is super easy to make and you can make it your own. Instead of polka dots you can make strawberries, candy, cupcakes, cars, faces of a certain character you name it. ʕ≧ᴥ≦ʔ You can make this for your friends and family and even for someones birthday !!!! I hope you all enjoy this recipe as much as I do. (○≧ω≦)

Pink Polka Doted  Deco roll cake
Ingredients: For cake
1 cup of Cake flour or normal all purpose flour
1/2 cup of water
6 tablespoons of caster sugar (for egg yolk mixture)
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
4 tablespoons of oil
6 eggs
4 tablespoons of sugar (for meringue)
1/2 teaspoon of cream of tartar
1/4 teaspoon of water
Pink food coloring

Ingredients: For decorating
3 cups heavy cream (this whipped cream will be used for both the rolled cake and the Macaroon Sandwiches )
1  1/2 cup of powdered sugar (extra for dusting)
11 strawberries (5 should be the same size)
3 raspberries

How to make it: Cake
Step 1: Line a baking pan(cookie sheet pan) with parchment paper or a silicone mat. Grease  the edges of the pan lightly with oil.
Preheat the oven to 325 F.  Separate egg yolks and egg whites into two separate bowls.
Step 2: Mix 6 egg yolks. Add 6 tablespoons of caster sugar.Beat until light mixture. Mix 1/2 cup of water, 4 tablespoons of oil, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Sift in 1 cup of cake flour or normal flour. Mix until it is light, a bit fluffy and has a pale yellow color.
Step 3: In a bowl beat with an electric mixer 6 egg whites and 1/2 teaspoon of cream of tartar. Once it thickens and has a bit of bubbles, add little by little the 4 tablespoons of  caster sugar. Beat until it has stiff peaks.
Step 4: Add meringue mixture to egg yolk mixture little by little. Fold it in and try not to break a lot of the air bubbles. Mix until smooth and pale yellow.
Step 5: Mix 1/4 teaspoon of water with a little bit of pink food coloring. Add 5 tablespoons of the batter we made in step 4  to a bowl. Pour in the pink water  to that bowl. Mix thoroughly.
Step 6: Pipe little polka dots onto the pan that has the parchment paper. Bake on 325 F for 1 min.
Step 7: Once it finishes baking pour batter from step 4 to the baking pan. Gently tap the pan two to three times to remove any air pockets. Bake the cake for 15 min on 325 F.
Step 8: Remove cake from oven and cover with a new sheet of parchment paper. Invert pan on to the bottom of another pan and unmold cake. Peel the parchment paper. Leave cake to cool.

How to make it: Decorating
Step 1: Pour in 3 cups of heavy cream into a bowl. Add the 1 1/2 cups of  powdered sugar little by little on medium speed. Mix until the heavy cream is nice and fluffy. Try not to over beat it or it will break and look a bit clumpy.
Step 2: Cut 6 of the strawberries into thin slices. Make sure they are thin or else when the cake is rolled the cake will break. Slice 2 strawberries in half. (these will be used to decorate the cake) Leave 3  perfect strawberries to decorate the cake.(these will also be used to decorate the cake)
Step 3: Add whip cream to only one half of the cake and the cut up strawberries. Place the strawberries vertically. This half should be the half that doesn't have the polka dots on the bottom.
Step 4: Roll the cake and wrap up with parchment paper and twist both ends to secure roll. Refrigerate for about an hour.(If your like me and cant wait, just leave in the refrigerator for 10 -15 min)ヽ(●≧ω≦●)ノ
Step 5: Take the roll out of the refrigerator and its finally time to decorate !!!! Put some of the whip cream into a piping bag. Pipe the whip cream in a sort of wave like movement. Then place each of the 3 strawberries, the 2 strawberries that were sliced in half, and the 3 raspberries on to the cake.
